Hi, I'm Katya!
I learn something new about the world every single day.
My mission is to boost equitable outcomes in higher education, particularly in the fields of mathematics and sciences. To do so, my research centers the experiences of students whose identities are often overlooked or marginalized.
My dissertation work examines how emerging AI technologies are reconfiguring the ways students learn and approach mathematics and what this means for the value of their degrees. In the future, I plan on investigating what prolonged AI reliance means for students' long-term well-being.
Using what I learn, I want to empower students to take control of their education and make informed decisions about whether and how they use AI in their lives.
I am looking forward to doing more collaborative work as I establish a community. Please use the contact form below to connect with me.
If you are a student seeking mentorship or just need someone to talk with about your academic path, I would be happy to connect! I welcome questions about research, grad school, and navigating higher education in general.
I am also open to collaborative work. Although my interests are growing every day, I may be of assistance with topics of: bilingual education, the learning sciences, AI-mediated learning, STEM identity, and sense of belonging. Please reach out to discuss the possibilities!
